Mavis’ Weekly Photo Update…

We went to the Lyle Lovett concert…
It was awesome…
Because I’m super thrifty… I refused to buy seats and instead opted for the “general admission” tickets… and I’m so glad I did…
We were able to bring a picnic dinner and sit on the sloped lawn and listen to the music…
Monkey Boy and the girl who thinks she’s a bird even had a great time.
And much to my delight… he played my favorite song of his “If I had a boat”

The zucchini, beans and cucumbers are finally coming up… and with any luck we will get some this year… It’s kinda hard to imagine actually craving zucchini… but I am… but for now… I’m stuffing myself with fresh berries.

We also wandered around Mt. Rainer National Park…

Although the setting of the lodge kinda reminded me of the movie “The Shinning”

I think it’s been kinda warm up there…

I flipped out when I saw this in the bathroom…
Wow… a 6 roll dispenser… you don’t see that everyday…

You are never to old to skip rocks…

It was beautiful there…

I also went grocery shopping…

And only spent .76 cents…

How about you?
Did you do anything exciting last week?

The Forecast…

I don’t believe my eyes…
For the FIRST time this year, there is NO RAIN in the forecast this week…

Maybe, hopefully, if I am lucky…

My 4th YES 4th planting of beans, cucumbers and zucchini seeds will grow.

I’ve already given up on having pumpkins & squash this year…
Well, strike that… maybe I’ll plant those again too while I’m outside today…

After reading Thyhand’s post this morning, I was reminded again of what it must of be like for people who don’t have a back up water system (read: hose), or a water source nearby… then what? How would you be able to grow ALL your food to last you and your family an entire year? Even if you preserved plenty of extra’s… it most likely wouldn’t be enough to see you thru an entire year…

Then I started thinking about natural disasters… and about people who typically only have a few days worth of food in their cupboard… what would they do?
Hmmm…
I think I’ll go water before it gets too hot…

Have a great day!
I hope something is growing in your garden.

In case you’re wondering where I’ve been all week…
Well, I’ve been busy!

Getting high on paint fumes is really a lot of work…

Monkey Boy and I went to Krispie Kreme…
Over the course of 12 hours He ate 8 doughnuts, I ate 3 and then because I thought I was going to throw up I packed the last one in the Handsome Husbands lunch…

I also saw this picture… again…
I first saw it about 3 years ago in a Ballard Designs catalog… back then it was a “painting on stretched canvas” … Now it’s been reduced to a mass produced vinyl picture… I’m still in love with it and want to buy it to hang on my wall… but #1 I’m cheap… and #2 REAL paintings are not vinyl photocopies…

I took Monkey Boy “Back to School” shopping…
Which is weird… because school just got out…

But the only thing he ever wants to spend his money on is shoes and electronics… so it takes awhile… Case in point: 2 hours shopping netted 1 count ’em 1 article of clothing…
It took soooo long in fact that I almost peeeeed my pants waiting…

Finally I asked the sales lady where the “toilets” were… when she said they were “two floors up” I blurted out “OH C’MON…..”

So I snuck into the Men’s restroom instead…
I mean really… what do I care?

I was just happy that some pervert didn’t shake his foot under the stall…

Oh… and I picked some peas…
